DELAND, Fla. — Stetson (3-5-0, 0-0-0) dropped a 3-1 decision to Troy University (5-2-0, 0-0-0) at the Athletic Training Center, Thursday night.

The Hatters started strong with an early goal from Bianca Mazzaferro in the 6th minute, assisted by Brooke Voorhees. However, Troy quickly responded with an equalizer by Alaina Uncapher just three minutes later and took the lead in the 32nd minute on a goal by Danielle Trovato. Despite several scoring opportunities, including a corner kick from Madison Bell, Stetson went into halftime trailing 2-1.

Troy extended their lead early in the second half when Melanie Oldner scored in the 49th minute. Stetson nearly answered right away, as Jessica Howard's shot hit the crossbar in the 50th minute. The Hatters continued to apply pressure, with shots from Stella Comana and Eva McCoy testing Troy's defense, but were unable to find the back of the net again.

Stetson will return home to face Wofford on September 14 at 1 p.m.
