Hatters Fall in Season Finale

Akins, Connors Reach Milestone Marks

Spartanburg, S.C. -- Despite a double-double from senior Madison Akins, Stetson fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17) to USC Upstate in its season finale Sunday afternoon at the Hodge Center.

The Hatters concluded the 2016 season with a mark of 4-25.

Akins registered 13 kills and 16 digs Sunday for her fourth double-double of the season and the 15th of her career. She also surpassed the 300-kill mark on the season for the second time in three years and moved into ninth on Stetson's all-time kills list with 1,095 career kills.

Shelby Connors picked up her 300th career block in the match to become just the second Hatter in the rally scoring era to reach that milestone. She finished the season with 97 blocks.

Akins, along with Tiffany Creamer, McKenna Foster and Marissa Salazar each played their final match in a Hatter uniform.

Akins: 120 MP, 1095 kills (ninth all-time, fifth in rally scoring era), 86 aces, 734 digs, 260 blocks (ninth all-time, third in the rally scoring era)
