Ladwig Named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year; Diniz, Ferreira Also Honored

Stetson's Paul Ladwig was named Goalkeeper of the Year, and teammates Luke Ferreira and Gabriel Diniz were also honored as the Atlantic Sun Conference announced its annual post-season awards for men's soccer on Wednesday.
 
In addition to being named Goalkeeper of the Year, Ladwig also earned a spot on the ASUN's all-conference first team. Ferreira was voted to the second team and Diniz earned a spot on the All-Freshman squad.
 
Ladwig, a senior, has played every minute in goal for the Hatters this season, and has been Stetson's rock throughout the year. In 15 games, Ladwig leads the ASUN and ranks 10th nationally with 86 saves. He has allowed one or fewer goals eight times.
 
Named to the ASUN All-Academic team earlier this week, Ladwig has twice reached double figures in saves this season. He made 10 saves to help the Hatters earn a 1-1 tie at Old Dominion on Aug. 28, and set a career-high with 11 saves in a 2-1 win over ASUN foe USC Upstate on Sept. 24.
 
Ferreira is enjoying a strong first season for the Hatters after transferring from Eastern Florida State. The sophomore midfielder currently leads the Hatters in goals (4), assists (4) and points (12). He is tied for third in the ASUN in assists.
 
Diniz turned in a strong freshman campaign ranking second behind Ferreira with three goals and tying for second in assists with two. He scored a game-winning goal in his first collegiate game when the Hatters opened the season with a 2-1 win at VCU.
 
The Hatters begin ASUN Tournament play when they face Lipscomb in the quarterfinals, 7 p.m., Thursday in Fort Myers, Fla.
