Myles' Milestone Not Enough as Hatters Fall to Fort Wayne, 93-74

DeLAND—All five starters scored in double figures as Fort Wayne knocked off Stetson, 93-74, Sunday at Edmunds Center.

Bryson Scott scored a game-high 27 points for the Mastodons (9-3), who entered the contest ranked as the No. 7 mid-major in the country by CollegeInsider.com. Fort Wayne shot 49 percent from the floor and used a 52-29 advantage on the boards to keep the Hatters (6-7) at bay.

A tight game in the early going, the Mastodons used a 14-2 run midway through the second half to turn an 18-16 affair into a 30-18 advantage. The Mastodons built an 18-point halftime lead (50-32) and Stetson never seriously threatened in the second half.

One bright spot for the Hatters was the play of junior guard Divine Myles, who not only finished the game with a team-high 18 points but also became the 33rd player in school history to reach 1,000 career points when he sank the first of two free throws with 1:06 left in the first half. Myles also led the Hatters with seven rebounds and added three assists.

Angel Rivera had 14 points and six assists for Stetson, while Luke Doyle and B.J. Glasford each scored 10.

News & Notes
Myles entered the game needing 9 points to reach 1,000 … Stetson made 13 three-pointers, the Hatters' fifth double-digit effort from beyond the arc this season …  Derick Newton finished with 8 points, snapping his double-figure scoring streak at 17 games … Rivera had 6 assists, the 8th time in 13 games with 5 or more.

Quotable
"It's a disappointing effort based on the good practices we had leading up to this game. I thought we had prepared well and I really thought we would play well and win the basketball game. We got out there and what we did in practice didn't translate to the game. We just never got going." – Stetson head coach Corey Williams
