Women's Rowing Athletic Communications

Hatters Sign Eight Rowers During Early Signing Period

DeLAND—Stetson women's rowing is pleased to announce the signing of eight student-athletes who will join the Hatters' squad for the fall of 2017.
 
The members of the Class of 2017 are: Sarah Dittmann (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.); Morgan Doak (Hereford, Md.); Maggie Mason (Powell, Ohio); Sophia Muckenfuss (Bettendorf, Iowa); Alyssa Price (Jacksonville, Fla.); Katie Ruhl (Westerville, Ohio); Makenzie Scholten (New Albany, Ohio) and Channing Scott (Granger, Ind.).
 
"I am thrilled to have the incoming group of young rowers joining Stetson in the Fall of 2017," Stetson head coach Mark Wilson said. "This is a really athletic and academically strong group of women and I know that they will all make great contributions to the program and the University. The individual accomplishments of our fall signing group are very impressive with results at national level competitions, and all have great experiences that will elevate Stetson Rowing to the next level. The current team is very excited about our signed recruits and everyone knows that this group will arrive with high expectations to help continue the strong and impressive growth of the program."

Sarah Dittmann ? Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (Arlington HS)
Currently a senior at Arlington High in Lagrangeville, N.Y. … comes from a rowing family as her brother, John, competes for Clarkson University … was named 2016 Coxswain of the Year by the Arlington Rowing Association … led her boat to the Hudson Valley Rowing League champion ship and the Dutchess Cup, both in 2015 … competes with Hudson River Rowing … chose Stetson over Buffalo, Syracuse and others.
 
Morgan Doak ? Hereford, Md. (Hereford HS)
Currently a senior at Hereford High in Parkton, Md. … competes and serves as team captain for Baltimore Rowing Club … raced at the Henley Women's Regatta on the River Thames in England … chose Stetson over Jacksonville and others.
 
Maggie Mason ? Powell, Ohio (Olentangy HS)
Currently a senior at Olentangy High in Lewis Center, Ohio … competes with Arch City Rowing … chose Stetson over Kentucky, Ole Miss and others.
 
Sophia Muckenfuss ? Bettendorf, Iowa (Bettendorf HS)
Currently a senior at Bettendorf High … competes with Y Quad Cities Rowing … earned a bronze medal at U23 World Trials in the Lightweight 2x in 2016 … won multiple gold medals at the 2015 and 2016 Midwest Regional Championships … also captured gold at the Youth Nationals in 2016 and Club Nationals in 2016 … chose Stetson over Tulsa, Boston University, Drake, Wisconsin and others.
 
Alyssa Price ? Jacksonville, Fla. (Paxon School for Advanced Studies)
Currently a senior at Paxon School for Advanced Studies in Jacksonville … competes with Evans Rowing Club out of Jacksonville … comes from a rowing family as her mother rowed collegiately at UCF … chose Stetson over Jacksonville, Embry-Riddle and others.

Katie Ruhl ? Westerville, Ohio (Columbus Academy)
Currently a senior at Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio … competes with the Westerville Rowing Club … attended the Head of the Charles … finished 10th at the Head of the Hooch … has a cousin who competes in rowing at Notre Dame, and another cousin on the track & field team at Virginia ... chose Stetson over Canisius, Mercyhurst, Marietta, Cincinnati, Dayton, Ohio State and others.
 
Makenzie Scholten ? New Albany, Ohio (New Albany HS)
Currently a senior at New Albany High … competes with Westerville Crew … finished third in the Novice 8+ at the 2015 Midwest Rowing Junior Championships … chose Stetson over Louisville, Duquesne, Iowa, Villanova and others.
 
Channing Scott ? Granger, Ind. (La Lumiere HS)
Currently a senior at La Lumiere High in LaPorte, Ind. … competes with the Ready Set Row developmental team … owns three first-place finishes in her scholastic career, along with four seconds and a third … finished sixth at the 2016 Scholastic National in 4x … chose Stetson over Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Notre Dame, Marquette and others.
