DeLand, Fla. -- After throwing back-to-back shutouts in her first two career starts, Stetson University freshman Brooke Hutto (Auburndale, Fla.) has been named the Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
In her collegiate debut on Friday, Hutto pitched a four-hit shutout in Stetson's 8-0 win over Akron. She became the first Hatter freshman to pitch a shutout in her debut since Erica Demers in 2006.
On Saturday, Hutto tossed a three-hit shutout in Stetson's 3-0 win vs. Morgan State. She completed the weekend with a 2-0 mark, a 0.00 ERA, and opponents were 0-for-10 against her with runners in scoring position.
Stetson (4-1) will return to action the weekend at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
