Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – Jessica Griffin had four hits on the day and Kayla Drury drove in four runs as Stetson split of pair of games Saturday at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic at ESPN's Wide World of Sports.
The Hatters (6-3) dropped a tightly-contested 3-2 decision to UAB before bouncing back with a 6-2 victory over Stephen F. Austin.
Tori Perkins went the distance for a complete game victory against Stephen F. Austin to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Hatters did all of their damage in the middle innings, scoring two runs in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the fifth. Griffin had three hits in game, including an RBI double in the third to get Stetson on the board. She would later score on Kelsey Waters' bunt single.
Drury, meanwhile, produced a pair of clutch hits with runners in scoring position. The Hatter senior drove in Lydia Kinney and Jessie TenBroeck and with single to rightcenter in the bottom of the fourth inning, then singled to left field with the bases loaded in the fifth to plate two more..
The Ladyjacks (3-5) scored two runs in the top of the sixth to cap the scoring.
Against UAB, the Hatters scored twice on successful squeeze bunts, one by Griffin in the first and one by Drury in the third. The Blazers (3-6) scored two in the third and one in the fourth and held on for the one-run victory.
Chelsea Hosteter pitched the first four innings for the Hatters, allowing three runs. Curstin Taylor pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
The Hatters will conclude play at the Citrus Classic against #13 Missouri at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
