DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader Wednesday, falling 3-1 and 7-4 to visiting Marist at Patricia Wilson Field.
Kelsey Waters went 4-for-7 with a triple on the day to lead the Hatters (23-14).
Jessica Griffin went 3-for-7 with a pair of doubles to move into a tie for fourth in school history with 36 career two-baggers.
Ashly Smith, and Jessie TenBroeck also collected three hits apiece. Smith stole three bases and TenBroeck swiped a pair, bringing her league-leading total to 27.
Brittany Hawn hit a two-run triple in game two, marking her second three-bagger in the last three games. Coupled with the triple from Waters, Stetson has hit five triples in its last four games.
Chelsea Hostetler pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Tori Perkins in game one, and Curstin Taylor pitched six innings in relief of Brooke Hutto in game two.
The Hatters will visit Kennesaw State for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and a 1 p.m. single game on Saturday. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Notes: Stetson had 19 hits on the day, but left 18 runners on base ... The Hatters have nine triples on the season, the most since 2006 when the team had 16 triples ... The loss in game two snapped a 52-game streak in which the Hatters won when leading after five innings ... Stetson became the first team in the NCAA to play 37 games this season.
