Fort Myers, Fla. -- Stetson fell 5-1 to Florida Gulf Coast in the rubber game of a three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series Sunday afternoon at the FGCU Softball Complex.
Jessie TenBroeck had three hits on the day, including her 50th of the season, to lead the Hatters (27-18, 6-5 A-Sun).
FGCU improved to 21-20, 5-4.
The Hatters scored their lone run in the top of the second and threatened to add more, but Ashly Smith's long fly ball with the bases loaded was hauled in on the warning track.
"If Ashly's ball carries a little further or the wind was blowing out, that becomes a whole different game," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said. "It just didn't happen for us today."
Jessica Griffin, playing in her 200th career game, Brittany Hawn and Talli Sharp also singled for the Hatters. Starter Tori Perkins pitched the first 4.1 innings, while Brooke Hutto tossed the final 1.2 innings in relief.
Stetson will host Lipscomb next weekend for a three-game series at Patricia Wilson Field.
Notes: Stetson is one of five teams at one game over .500 in the A-Sun standings, but the Hatters are tied fourth in terms of percentage points.
