DeLand, Fla. -- Despite falling 6-3 to Jacksonville in Sunday's series finale at Patricia Wilson Field, the Hatters have assured themselves a spot in next month's Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
Stetson (29-22) finished conference play with an 8-9 record, which will rank among the top six teams in the league when regular season play concludes on May 8. The Hatters will likely have to wait until then to learn their seeding for the tournament, which will be held May 11-14 at Florida Gulf Coast.
Stetson will be making its fifth straight postseason appearance.
"I am excited to know that we will be going back to the tournament," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said. "Exams will be over with, the kids will be more relaxed, and I think they will produce more runs. If we can just have some fun, I think we have a good shot at winning the thing."
Sunday, Stetson fell behind 5-1 early and never could climb all the way back.
Jessica Griffin went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a run, and an RBI. Jessie TenBroeck and Kelsey Waters also collected two hits apiece. Ashly Smith and TenBroeck each drove in one.
Kayla Drury doubled and scored a run.
Kristen Griffith hit a three-run home run to help lead the Dolphins (27-25, 8-7).
Stetson will play one final regular season game, May 4 at UCF.
