Orlando, Fla. – UCF hit for a .352 attack percentage in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) victory over visiting Stetson Saturday evening at The Venue.

Despite the Hatters 0-3 start to the season, head coach Kristina Hernandez was more pleased with her team's performance on Saturday.

“Overall, I felt we were much more competitive than we were yesterday,” Hernandez said. “Offensively, we had more people producing, and the defense picked up in the second and third sets. UCF really challenged us with their blocking, and that made a big difference for them.”

After committing numerous errors in Friday's loss to Stony Brook, the Hatters played a much cleaner game on Saturday.

“There was definitely a big change in that,” Hernandez said about the reduction in miscues. “We kept the ball in play a lot more offensively and limited those attack errors. We had a lot more serving runs than serving errors which allowed us to get those strings of points back. With our serve receive, we did a good job of getting out of those ruts quicker.”

McKenna Foster registered eight kills, eight digs, two assists, one ace and one block. Roxy Lake had 13 assists and Marissa Salazar picked up seven digs.

Freshman Eva Deisa led the team with 19 kills during the weekend tournament.

Stetson will compete at the USF Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
