Box Score 2 Asheville, N.C. -- After dropping a marathon five-set match to UNC Asheville 3-2, the Stetson volleyball team bounced back with a 3-0 victory over North Carolina Central Saturday afternoon in the final day of the UNC Asheville Invitational.
The Hatters (2-8) completed the tournament with a 2-1 record and will play their first home match of the year Wednesday night vs. Marshall.
"UNC Asheville was tough match," Stetson head coach Kristina Hernandez said. "We hit well and so did they. It came down to little points here and there and we had some opportunities but didn't capitalize. The turnaround after that match was only 25 minutes to first serve of next game so I was happy we bounced back and swept NCCU."
In the first match of the day, UNC Asheville (4-2) won the opening set 25-22 and later the third set 27-25. The Hatters rallied to tie each time, taking the second set 25-14 and the fourth set 26-24.
However, Stetson committed nine errors in the fifth set, and Asheville took advantage with a 15-7 victory in the final frame.

Shortly after completing the two-hour, 13-minute marathon, Stetson took the court again to face North Carolina Central (1-5). This time, the Hatters cruised to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-16 victory.
