Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Sebastian Contreras and Gabriel Diniz each scored goals in the first half to help Stetson to a 2-2 draw with Tulsa, Sunday at the UAB Soccer for a Cure Classic.
The Hatters (2-2-2) took an early 1-0 lead when Contreras headed in a corner kick from Finn Busmann in the 14th minute.
Stetson's lead doubled to 2-0 in the 25th minute when Diniz scored after stealing the ball from a defender near the sideline and fired a shot past the keeper and into the upper left corner of the goal.
The scored stayed 2-0 until the Golden Hurricane (2-1-2) came alive in the second half. Casper Venstad put TU on the board in the 51st minute when he headed in a free kick from Ray Saari as Tulsa pulled to within 2-1.
Tulsa tied the match in the 68th minute. Jacob Gooden scored inside the box thanks to a cross by Rollie Rocha.
The match remained tied at the end of regulation. In overtime the two teams combined for just six shots, with four of those by the Hatters, but neither team could find the net.
Tulsa out-shot the Hatters 20-8. Stetson goalkeeper Paul Ladwig made a pair of saves, while TU keeper Jake McGuire made one stop.
The Hatters return to action when they host Fordham, 7 p.m., Saturday, at the Athletic Training Center.
