After playing their first 10 matches of the year on the road, the Stetson Hatters will finally get a chance to play in front of their home crowd Wednesday night when they host the Marshall Thundering Herd.

First serve at the Edmunds Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.

Stetson (2-8) is coming off a 2-1 weekend at the UNC Asheville Invitational, which included 3-0 sweeps of Alabama A&M and North Carolina Central.  The lone setback was a five-set marathon against UNC Asheville in which the Bulldogs took the decisive set 15-7.

Senior right side hitter Madison Akins had a stellar weekend, averaging 4.1 kills and 1.1 blocks per set while hitting .444.  She had a season-high 19 kills vs. Asheville and posted 16 kills and six blocks against Alabama A&M.  

Akins has taken over the ASUN lead in attack percentage (.316), she ranks second in the league in blocks-per-set (0.88) and ranks third in kills-per-set (3.15).  She is also just four kills shy of the 900 mark for her career.

Senior libero Marissa Salazar has also been playing well, having picked up 10 or more digs in each of her last seven matches.  She served four aces vs. Alabama A&M and ranks fourth in the league in aces-per-set (0.38).  

Akins and Salazar were each named to the UNC Asheville all-tournament team.

Marshall (8-3), meanwhile, is coming off a 3-0 weekend at the Toledo Invitational.  The Herd have won four in a row overall, all by 3-0 scores.  Jac'cara Walker averages 3.43 kills-per-set and ranks fifth nationally with 21 aces.

Stetson and Marshall will be meeting for just the second time overall, and for the first time since 2011.  The Herd lead the series 1-0.
