Hatters Subdued at FAU, 3-1

BOCA RATON, Fla.—Three different players scored goals as Florida Atlantic handed Stetson a 3-1 defeat in non-conference action, Tuesday at FAU Soccer Stadium.

Stetson (3-5-2) managed just nine shots for the match, but it was a pair of early strikes by the Owls (2-5-1) that put the Hatters in a tough position.

FAU's Dylan Huber gave the Owls a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes in with a header into the upper left 90. Just over six minutes later Jason Fitzgerald's penalty kick gave FAU a 2-0 lead.

The Hatters got on the scoreboard in the 50th minute when Luke Ferreira scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season off an assist from Joseph Alamo.

FAU put the game out of reach in the 74th minute. Alvaro Campuzano got behind the defense and found the back of the net for a 3-1 lead.

The Owls got off 17 shots against the Stetson defense but Stetson keeper Paul Ladwig made four saves. His FAU counterpart, Phillip Hitpass, also stopped four shots.

The Hatters return to Atlantic Sun Conference play when they visit NJIT, 2 p.m., Saturday.
