Hatters Blank UNF

Three different players scored goals and the Stetson defense pitched its sixth shutout of the year as the Hatters defeated North Florida, 3-0, Saturday in ASUN Conference women's soccer action in Jacksonville.

Lily Ammon, Allison Zaccheo and Briana Camargo scored for the Hatters, who improve to 8-3-3 overall and 3-1-2 in conference play.

"This is a great win on the road against a very determined UNF team," Stetson head coach manoj Khettry said. "We worked on a couple of specific things this week in training that we thought we could exploit against them and credit to our players for doing those things. All of our goals came from our players executing what we asked them to do today in the final third. I was glad to see us get back to playing the way we can and have been playing and score goals and get a shutout. We were very efficient: getting eight of our 10 shots on-goal and scoring three times."
Ammon gave the Hatters a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute off an assist by Sarah Collins. Zaccheo made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute with her third goal of the season. Briana Camargo assisted on the Zaccheo goal, and then scored her first of the season five minutes later as twin sister Abbie Camargo and Collins assisted.

North Florida (9-5, 3-3) out-shot the Hatters, 12-10, but Stetson keeper Emily Plotz made four saves.

The Hatters close out the regular season when they host Jacksonville, 7 p.m., Saturday, October 21 in DeLand.
