Hatters Edge Jacksonville on Senior Night

Adrianna Suarez and Sarah Collins each scored goals as Stetson women's soccer closed out the regular-season with a 2-1 win over ASUN Conference foe Jacksonville, Saturday at the Athletic Training Center.

The win secures the No. 3 seed for the Hatters (9-3-3, 4-1-2) in the ASUN Tournament, which begins next weekend. The Hatters won't know their opponent until late Saturday, but they previously secured a home game for the quarterfinals.

On Senior Night, Suarez opened the scoring in the first half, giving Stetson a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. The senior scored on a scramble in front of the net, finishing off a short pass from fellow senior Collins for her third goal of the season.

The game remained 1-0 until Jacksonville's Zoe Zinis scored in the 62nd minute.

Collins broke the 1-1 tie in the 72nd minute, taking a long pass from Annette Morton and scoring right in front of the keeper.

Stetson dominated play, out-shooting Jacksonville (4-10-0, 2-5-0) by a 26-6 count. The Hatters put 10 shots on-goal, forcing JU keeper Brittany Hundley to make eight saves.

Stetson keeper Emily Plotz stopped two shots for the Hatters.

The Hatters will next play in the ASUN Tournament quarterfinals. Opponent, date and time will be announced later.
