Hatters Return Home to Face First Place San Diego

DeLand, Fla.— The Stetson University football team returns to action on Saturday with a contest against the University of San Diego with a kickoff time scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
Saturday Game Information
Stetson squares off against the University of San Diego in a Pioneer Football League contest at Spec Martin Stadium at 1 p.m.

Salute to Service
The game is a Salute to Service. As a way to say thank you for all they have done and do, all military, veterans and first responders receive free admission to the game.
 
Stetson's Last Game
Stetson lost at Morehead State 29-26 last Saturday, snapping the Hatters' two game winning streak. The Hatters fell behind 14-0 after one quarter and were behind 21-10 at halftime. Stetson proceeded to outscore Morehead State 16-0 over the first 29:30 of the second half and led 26-21 in the final minute. But Morehead State scored the winning touchdown with 30 seconds left to take a 29-26 lead and win the game.
 
Today's Opponent
The University of San Diego enters today's game 5-2 overall this season and a 4-0 showing in the Pioneer Football League. Last weekend the Toreros beat the University of Jacksonville 63-10 in Jacksonville. Overall the University of San Diego has a 17-game winning streak in PFL games. The Toreros last loss in a league game was a 13-12 defeat at the University of Dayton on Oct. 10, 2015.

All-Time Series
San Diego has won all four previous contests the two schools have had. The Toreros beat the Hatters 42-7 in San Diego on Nov. 12 last season.
 
The Cool Stats
Junior quarterback Colin McGovern has thrown for at least 236 yards in the past five games. He is now just 36 yards away from the Stetson record for most passing yards in a season. Graduate linebacker Jeb Boudreaux has 79 tackles which leads the team and the Pioneer Football League this season.
 
Home Winning Streak
The Hatters have won two straight home games for the first time in their modern era. After beating Brown on Oct. 7, then Davidson on Oct. 14, Stetson has won two in a row at Spec Martin Stadium for the first time since restarting the program in 2013.
 
Rest of the Season:
After this game, Stetson has two games remaining in 2017. The Hatters wrap up their home slate of games next Saturday Nov. 4 with a homecoming and senior day game against Butler University at 4 p.m. followed by their 2017 regular season finale on Nov. 11 at the University of Jacksonville at 1 p.m.
