Hatters Solid on Opening Day at Bedford Cup

Stetson men's tennis continued fall tournament play on Thursday when the Hatters enjoyed a successful opening day at the Bedford Cup in Tallahassee.
 
Overall, Stetson picked up five singles victories including two by freshman Malik Bhatnagar. Colter DeCoste, Linus Bergevi and Coilin MacNamara also earned singles wins.
 
"This was a long and productive day of tennis for us," head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Everyone got to play three matches, and showed great resilience. Our attitude is outstanding and we are learning every day. We had a lot of tight matches, and those are the best to learn from. Malik picked up a great win today against the number two seed to advance to the quarterfinals, showing that he can compete against anyone in college tennis. We are looking forward to another full day tomorrow."
 
Bhatnagar opened his day with a 6-3, 6-4 win before knocking off tournament No. 2 seed Bojan Jankulovski of Miami in three sets, winning 6-2, 0-6, 10-7.
 
The Bedford Cup continues play on Friday.
