Hatters Visit FIU on Sunday

Stetson men's basketball takes to the road for the first time this season when the Hatters visit FIU, 7 p.m., Sunday in Miami.
 
The Hatters (1-0) opened the season on Friday with a 98-89 win over Webber. Senior point guard Angel Rivera tied a 35-year school record by dishing 15 assists, mostly to a group of freshmen who accounted for 62 of Stetson's 98 points.
 
Freshman forward Abayomi Iyiola led the Hatters with 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and was joined in double figures by senior Luke Doyle (15), and fellow freshmen Raine McKeython (13) and Kenny Aninye (12).
 
FIU (1-0) opened its season on Friday with a 70-47 win over Florida Memorial.

•A win gives Stetson its second straight 2-0 start
•Head coach Corey Williams is 2-2 all-time against the Panthers
•Freshmen combined to score 62 of Stetson's 98 points against Webber. Abayomi Iyiola (21), Raine McKeython (13) and Kenny Aninye (12) all reached double figures in their respective collegiate debuts.
•Angel Rivera tied a 35-year old Stetson record with 15 assists against Webber. Brad Weston also dished 15 assists against Lousiana-Lafayette on Jan. 18, 1982
•7-foot-2 freshman Adam Webb played four minutes on Friday, officially becoming the tallest player in program history

•Stetson faces a familiar foe in its first road game of the new season as the Hatters visit FIU on Sunday
•Stetson and FIU were conference opponents from 1990-98 in old Trans America Athletic Conference (now ASUN Conference)
•Sunday's game marks the sixth straight season the teams have met after not facing each other from 199 to 2011
•Stetson has won the last two meetings in the series, including an 81-75 win in Miami in 2015
•B.J. Glasford (Norland HS) is the only Miami native on the Hatters current roster. Larry Dennis played his freshman season at FIU in 2014-15
