Hatters Begin Stretch Run at USC Upstate and NJIT

Charlotte Earnhart leads the team in service aces

DeLand, Fla. – With just four matches remaining in the regular season, the Stetson volleyball team will look to make a postseason push this weekend as the Hatters travel to face USC Upstate and NJIT.

The Hatters (3-19, 2-8 ASUN) currently sit in seventh place in the ASUN standings, one game behind the Spartans (7-17, 3-7).  Stetson defeated USC Upstate 3-1 in DeLand earlier this season, and win over the Spartans Friday would give the Hatters the head-to-head tiebreaker.

"I think we are all aware of how important these two games are coming up," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said.  "As coaches, we are still talking to them about the importance of focusing on the small things instead of just the big picture.  We can only control what's in front of us.  We just had our best practice in a while.  It is hard when you are not having success in terms of wins and losses, but we try to focus on the process and keep improving every day."

Friday's match in Spartanburg will start on 6 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN3.

On Sunday, the Hatters will travel to Newark, N.J. to face the Highlighanders (11-16, 1-9).  Stetson defeated NJIT 3-2 in DeLand on Oct. 6.  Sunday's match will start at 1 p.m. will a live video stream at NJITHighlanders.com.

In addition to the broadcasts, live stats, the Stetson volleyball twitter feed, and the HatCheck text messaging service will provide live updates as well.
