Jordan Tully Cherishing New Opportunity at Stetson

When Jordan Tully made the decision to transfer from Boise State to Stetson, she knew would have to sit out a full season per NCAA rules.  That knowledge didn't make the waiting period any easier.

"Last year was pretty difficult for me because I wasn't allowed to play or even travel with the team," Tully said.  "Sitting out was tough, but I understood my role.  Every day I was assigned a new scout, and I had to challenge my team to try and better themselves and get ready for the upcoming games."

Once her redshirt season was in the books, Tully looked forward to the start of this season for quite a while.

"I had a countdown on my phone since the day the schedule was announced," Tully said. "You could say I was pretty excited."

Now Tully is back on the court, having played all three games so far this season.  The Hatter sophomore is averaging 5.3 points-per-game off the bench and is shooting 63.6 percent (7-for-11) from the floor while helping Stetson get off to a 2-1 start.

Tully said sitting out last season was not only beneficial to her from a learning standpoint, but it also made her more appreciative of playing the game she loves.

"I just have a whole new perspective," Tully said.  "I am so happy to do whatever the team needs.  I am ready for whatever gets thrown at me and grateful that I have the opportunity to play."

Tully and the Hatters will return to action at the Savannah Invitational this week, playing three games in three days.  Stetson will face Wright State (2-1) at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Florida (1-2) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and Providence (2-1) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

It will be Stetson's first three-games-in-three-days tournament since going 2-1 at the Basketball Travelers Classic in Waco, Texas in 2014.

There will be no live video or Stetson radio broadcast during the Savannah Invitational.  Fans can follow the action through live stats, twitter, and the HatCheck text messaging system.
