The Stetson men's basketball team returns home to the Edmunds Center on Thursday night when the Hatters host former ASUN foe Campbell. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and can be heard locally on WSBB AM 1230 and 1490.
The game against Campbell (3-4) opens a rare double for Stetson. The Hatters will be right back in action on Friday night at home against Edward Waters (4-6) in the final game of the Hoops in the Heartland event. That game is also scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
The Hatters (5-3) are coming off a three-game road trip that included victories over South Alabama and Green Bay. With three road victories this year, the Hatters have already equaled their total from 2016-17. Stetson was paced by senior
B.J. Glasford in the win over Green Bay on Monday as the Miami native poured in a career-high 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. Glasford also had a career-best six assists in the game.
Stetson will be looking to break a six-game losing streak against the Camels with the last Hatters' win in the series came on December 15, 2008. Campbell took an 81-72 victory over the Hatters last December thanks to a big first half that left Stetson with a 43-29 deficit. Stetson rallied to take a 72-71 lead with 2:23 to play, but were outscored 10-0 the rest of the way as the Camels went 8-8 at the free throw line.
Camels then sophomore Chris Clemons led the way to the win, scoring 22 points to lead four players in double figures. Now a junior, Clemons is ranked as one of the best guard's in the nation, averaging 23.6 points per game to go with a solid 4.6 rebounds per outing.
A win on Thursday would give the Hatters six wins in their first nine game, marking the best start for a Stetson team since the 1988-89 squad started the year with a 7-3 record.
Tickets for this week's games start at just $7 for general admission and can be purchased
online or at the Edmunds Center box office, or by calling (386) 738-HATS. Stetson students, faculty and staff are admitted free with an ID.
