Hatters Fall Just Short at NJIT

Stetson records a season-high 63 kills

Newark, N.J. -- NJIT rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to defeat visiting Stetson 3-2 Sunday afternoon in an ASUN Conference match at Fleisher Athletic Center.

Stetson (3-21, 2-10 ASUN) dominated sets 1 and 3, winning by scores of 25-12 and 25-16, respectively, but NJIT (12-17, 2-10 ASUN) fought back each time before taking the decisive fifth set 15-10.

Anna Bezhan registered a career-high 18 kills and added 12 digs for her second straight double-double.  

Hao Jin recorded 15 kills and hit .433 for the match (15-2-30). She also tallied nine blocks, putting her over the 100-block mark for the season.

Charlotte Earnhart tallied 14 kills and a career-high 17 digs for her first career double-double.

Naina Ivanova tallied a career-high 51 assists while adding 16 digs and five blocks. 

Chelcie Spence also recorded a career-high 26 digs.

Stetson posted a season-high 63 kills and hit .224 for the match.  The Hatters also topped the 80-dig mark (82) for the third time in the last four games, and collected 13 blocks.

Stetson will return home to face Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. Friday.
