Hatters Stopped by Cold Second Half Shooting

Tacko Fall recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds and UCF limited Stetson to 21 percent shooting in the second half as the Hatters suffered  74-55 loss to the Knights, Tuesday at Edmunds Center.

Trailing 42-55 at halftime, the Hatters (7-7) missed their 10 of their first 11 shots from the field to start the second half. UCF (8-3), meanwhile, was building its lead behind the 7-foot-6 Fall, who scored seven of UCF's first nine points as the Knights raced to a 51-35 lead before the first media timeout.

After UCF pushed the lead to as many as 21 points (60-39), the Hatters cut the deficit down to 14 points three times in the second half, the final time coming when Abayomi Iyiola's jumper made it 69-55 with 4:01 to go.

Stetson stayed close in the first half behind a balanced scoring effort as eight different Hatters found the scoring column.

Divine Myles led Stetson with 14 points but was an uncustomary 6 of 15 from the field. Iyiola was the only other Hatter in double figures with 10 points.

Stetson shot just 33 percent from the field overall, including a 3-14 effort from 3-point range. UCF shot 54 percent and was plus-18 in rebounding (46-28).

The Hatters are off for the holidays and return to action when they visit Nebraska on Friday, Dec. 29.
