Maggie Fritts Named ASUN Player of the Week

Hatter junior has impressive opening weekend

DeLand, Fla. -- After hitting two home runs last week including a game-winning grand slam, junior Maggie Fritts has been named the ASUN Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Making her Hatter debut this weekend, Fritts had six hits and six RBI to help lead the Hatters to a 4-1 mark at the Stetson Lead-Off Classic.  She hit a tie-breaking, fifth-inning grand slam in Stetson's 10-6 win over Akron on Saturday, and then hit a run-rule, walk-off home run against Savannah State on Sunday.

Fritts also collected two doubles and hit safely in four of the five games. She was named to the Lead-Off Classic all-tournament team.

The Hatters (4-1) will travel to the Diamond 9 Orange Blossom Classic this weekend at ESPN's Wide World of Sports.  Stetson will face Providence and LIU Brooklyn on Friday beginning at 3:15 p.m.
