Hatters Down Howard For Season's First Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Stetson reached a season-high in goals scored as the Hatters picked up their first win of the year, 21-3, over Howard in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday at Greene Stadium.
 
Stetson's Maddie Holvey totaled seven points on two goals and five assists, falling one point shy of tying a program record for points in a game. A total of six Hatters scored two or more goals as Stetson out-shot the Bison, 32-14. Twelve different Hatters in all found the back of the net.
 
The Hatters opened play by scoring the game's first nine goals, and led 15-2 at halftime.
 
Sam Maguire led the Hatters with four goals. Stetson's goal-scoring leader now has 16 for the season. Shelby Lehmann had three goals, while Sandra Stephan, Lindsay Summers, Taylor Patrizi and Holvey each scored twice. Summers finished with three assists.
 
Freshman goalie Liza Diamond earned her first career victory by making five saves.
 
Three different players scored one goal apiece for the Bison. Amerra Sheckles took the loss in goal.
 
The Hatters continue ASUN play when they visit Delaware State, noon, Sunday.
