Hatters Make History, Shutout Delaware State

DOVER, Del.—Stetson Lacrosse made history as the Hatters recorded the first shutout in program history with a 24-0 win at Atlantic Sun Conference foe Delaware State, Sunday at Alumni Stadium.
 
The Hatters (2-8 overall, 2-1 ASUN) dominated the Hornets in every facet of the game on Sunday, out-shooting Delaware State by a 38-8 margin and finishing a perfect 6-6 on free-position shots. The Hatters committed just six turnovers while forcing 15 by the Hornets.
 
Fourteen different Hatters scored goals on Sunday, led by Sam Maguire with four. Taylor Patrizi and Devon McKercher scored three goals apiece, while Lindsay Summers, Sarah Trupp, and Shelby Lehmann each scored twice.
 
In addition to her two goals, Summers had four assists. Hallie Merz and Sandra Stephan had two each.
 
Freshman goalie Liza Diamond earned her first career shutout by making four saves.
 
Stetson led 15-0 at halftime.
 
The Hatters continue ASUN play when they open a four-game home stand against Central Michigan, 6 p.m., Friday at the Athletic Training Center.
