Hatters Stumble at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C.—Haley Alexander and Courtney Genovese each scored four goals as Coastal Carolina defeated Stetson, 18-5, in Atlantic Sun Conference play Sunday at Brooks Stadium.
 
The loss, Stetson's third straight, drops the Hatters to 5-11 overall and 5-4 in ASUN play. Coastal improves to 10-5 overall and leads the ASUN with a 7-1 record.
 
The Chanticleers took control of the game early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Stetson responded by scoring two of the next three goals to get within 5-2, but Coastal scored four straight for a 9-2 lead. The Chanticleers led 9-3 at halftime.
 
Stetson opened the second half with a Julia Lozano goal, but Coastal notched seven unanswered scores for a 16-4 lead, effectively putting the game out of reach.
 
Lozano, Lindsay Summers, Maddie Holvey, Shelby Lehmann and Taylor Patrizi each scored goals for the Hatters. Liza Diamond faced 38 shots and made five saves in goal for the Hatters.
 
Stetson returns to action when the Hatters close out the regular season against Jacksonville, 6 p.m., Friday, April 28 at the Athletic Training Center in Deland.
