Hatters Host Rival FGCU For Three-Game Set

Stetson is 13-1 all-time vs. the Eagles in DeLand

The Stetson softball team will play its final three home games of the season this weekend as the Hatters host the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at Patricia Wilson Field.  The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Stetson enters the series with a record 25-16 overall, 3-9 in the ASUN.  The Hatters are coming off a 3-2, come-from-behind win over UNF on Sunday.  Stetson is currently seventh in the conference standings and on the outside of the ASUN tournament picture with six games to go.  The Hatters have an opportunity to move up, however, as the team's next two opponents are the two teams directly ahead of them in the standings.

FGCU comes to town with a record of 22-26 overall, 4-7 in the ASUN.  The Eagles dropped a doubleheader at USF on Thursday.  Kelsey Huff leads the Eagles with 66 hits and a .400 batting average.

Stetson leads the all-time series 16-11 over FGCU. The Hatters hold a 13-1 advantage in DeLand and have won six in a row over the Eagles at Patricia Wilson Field.  FGCU won two of the three meetings last year in Fort Myers.

Single-day tickets are $5 for general admission and $7 for reserved seats and can be purchased online or at the Patricia Wilson Field box office.  Stetson students, faculty and staff are free with a valid ID.

All three games will be broadcast live on subscription-based HatterVision, with Evan Weston calling the action.  Live stats, the Stetson Softball twitter feed (@StetsonSoftball), and the HatCheck text messaging system will provide live updates as well.

Closing in on 700
Head coach Frank Griffin is two wins shy of 700 victories at Stetson.

Team Stolen Bases
Stetson ranks fourth in the NCAA with 121 stolen bases, trailing only Marshall (139), UT Martin (131), and Southeastern Louisiana (125). The Hatters have already reached the 100-steal mark for the second year in a row and for the fourth time in school history.

Individual Stolen Bases
Senior Jessie TenBroeck ranks second in the NCAA with 46 stolen bases, just one behind Marshall's Elicia D'Orazio.  TenBroeck also leads the NCAA with a 1.12 steals-per-game average.

Thrice as Nice
Senior Kelsey Waters has hit seven triples this season, the most by a Hatter since Sherrell Fountain hit eight in 2006.  The seven triples are also tied for the ASUN lead and tied for third currently in the NCAA.

Vasquez Red Hot
Junior Jazz Vasquez is batting .394 in ASUN play, which ranks second on the team and fifth in the conference.  Vasquez has nine hits in her last five games, including four multi-hit games. She is batting .600 over that stretch.
