Jacksonville, Fla. — Stetson Hatters softball hits the road for an ASUN series against North Florida Ospreys softball, beginning Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m.
The Hatters continue to gain national recognition, checking in at No. 16 in the D1 Softball Mid-Major Poll and No. 19 in the Softball America Mid-Major Rankings.
Stetson enters the weekend with a 25–15 overall record and a 10–2 mark in ASUN play. Irianis Garcia led the way offensively last week, earning ASUN Player of the Week honors, while Ava Braswell was dominant in the circle on her way to ASUN Pitcher of the Week recognition.
Garcia put together an outstanding week at the plate, going 9-for-13 with three doubles, a home run, and four walks. She posted a .692 batting average, .765 on-base percentage, and a 1.154 slugging percentage, driving in three runs and scoring six times.
She opened the week with a two-hit performance against Florida, including a pair of doubles, then followed with a three-hit game in the first contest of a doubleheader, highlighted by a home run and three RBIs. Garcia stayed hot in game two, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a walk, before closing the weekend 1-for-2 with two walks. She is currently riding a six-game hitting streak, including four multi-hit performances.
Braswell was equally impressive in the circle, going 1–1 across three appearances with a 1.50 ERA over 9.1 innings. She tossed a complete game against West Georgia, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four, and held opponents to a .143 batting average on the week.
Nicole Edmiaston continues to pace the Hatters offensively, batting .483 with a .557 on-base percentage and a 1.557 OPS. She has totaled 57 hits, including seven doubles and 18 home runs, while driving in 57 RBIs. Edmiaston is now just two home runs shy of tying the program's single-season record.
Amber Chumley has also been a key contributor, hitting .356 with five home runs and 21 RBIs. Garcia ranks second on the team with 50 hits, including eight doubles, a triple, and nine home runs, and is batting .394 on the season while ranking second nationally in assists.
As a team, Stetson is batting .322 with a .416 on-base percentage, totaling 344 hits, including 54 doubles and a program-record 58 home runs, along with 148 walks and 248 RBIs.
In the circle, Braswell owns a 12–7 record with a 3.02 ERA across 102.0 innings, while Hayley Arnold has posted a 3.32 ERA over 57.0 innings.
North Florida enters the series with a 29–14 overall record and a 4–8 mark in conference play. Addie Keef and Hallie Langford lead the team with 47 hits apiece, with Langford recording eight doubles, four triples, and a .419 on-base percentage. Bella Cimino provides power with a team-high nine home runs.
As a team, the Ospreys are batting .301 with a .394 on-base percentage, totaling 321 hits, including 56 doubles, 14 triples, and 24 home runs, along with 202 RBIs.
In the circle, Cameron Ponich leads North Florida with an 11–4 record across 20 appearances, including six complete games. She has posted a 1.52 ERA over 78.1 innings with a 1.30 WHIP and a .201 opponent batting average.
The series marks the 63rd all-time meeting between the two programs, with Stetson having swept the earlier matchup in DeLand this season.
