Zaccheo Lifts Hatters to Victory

Allison Zaccheo broke a scoreless tie in the 69th minute and Stetson's defense was up to the task as the Hatters snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over Embry-Riddle, Sunday at the Athletic Training Center.
 
Playing most of the game in a steady rain storm, the Hatters (2-2-0) and Eagles struggled to produce much offense. Stetson had several near-scores while the Eagles never mounted much of a significant threat.
 
Zaccheo finally broke the deadlock when she pounced on a rebounded shot by Hailey Williams and bombed in a shot from 30 yards away. The goal is Zaccheo's second of the season and eighth of her career.
 
Stetson's defense did the rest of the work, as they kept the Eagles at bay of the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
 
The Hatters finished with a 13-10 advantage in shots.
 
Sophomore keeper Emily Plotz faced 10 shots and made three saves in earning her second shutout of the season. Embry-Riddle keepers Fanny Kristiansson and Dana Ruchti combined to make six saves.
 
The Hatters next participate in the UTRGV Tournament when they will face Texas-Rio Grande Valley, 8 p.m., Thursday, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 5 p.m., Saturday.
