Hatters Battle to Scoreless Draw in ASUN Opener

Stetson and FGCU battled to a scoreless draw in the ASUN Conference women's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday night at Stetson's Athletic Training Center.
 
The teams combined for 28 shots, including 16 on-goal, but goalkeepers Emily Plotz of Stetson and Melissa Weck of FGCU responded by combining for 16 saves, including nine by Plotz.
 
No player for either team took more than three shots. Lindsey Parent and Kendall Harmon led the Hatters with two each.
 
Plotz picked up her fourth shutout of the season as the Stetson defense halted an FGCU attack which entered Saturday averaging 2.78 goals per game.

"While we defended well with our backs and goalkeeper, I thought our defusing up front and in midfield was outstanding and it was a total team effort," Stetson head coach Manoj Khettry said. "I thought everyone was really engaged and it was a total team effort in order for us to get a positive result."
 
The Hatters next host Kennesaw State, 7 p.m., Friday.
