Three Hatters Earn Victories at ITF Futures

Loic Blanco, Malik Bhatnagar and Antoine Sanchez all won singles on Friday as the Stetson men's tennis opened play in the ITF Futures in Palm Coast.

Blanco defeated teammate Angus Bradshaw in the first round of qualifying, winning a tight match by scores of 7-5 and 7-5.

"Overall this was a good day of tennis for the Hatters," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Not necessarily playing our best tennis, but getting some matches in and learning to adapt along the way. The competition only gets tougher from here, and I am looking forward to the challenges we will face tomorrow."

Sanchez and fellow freshmen Bhatnagar each won in straight sets in qualifying. Sanchez defeated Shayan Najam of Reston, Va., 6-2, 6-2. Bhatnagar defeated fellow Canadian Sid Donarski, 6-2, 6-4.

Qualifying play continues on Saturday, and the event runs through Feb. 4.
