Freshmen Find Success at ITF

Three Stetson freshmen were victorious on the first day of qualifying at the ITF USA F32 Futures on Friday at the Roger Scott Tennis Center in Pensacola, Fla.

Christian Mills, Dennis Moses and Louis Gorregues each earned wins to advance to Saturday. Mills' victory came at the expense of Stetson teammate Josh Laka, with Mills rallying to win a three-set thriller 6-7 (7), 6-3, 7-5.

"Today was a good day for Stetson tennis as three players made their way through the first round of qualifications," Stetson assistant coach Adam Chan said. "It's a shame that Josh and Christian had to play each other in the qualification round, but it amounted to a four-hour spectacle. Dennis and Louis fully embraced our aggressive philosophy leading to two wins and a ticket to the second round of qualification."

Moses defeated Sebastian Rohrbach of Alabama-Huntsville 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3. Gorregues was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Carlos Almenar of Venezuela.
