Hatters Conclude Season in ASUN Quarterfinals

Kennesaw, Ga. -- After a record-breaking campaign, the Hatters didn't get the storybook finish they were hoping for as Liberty defeated Stetson 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-20) in Thursday's ASUN Quarterfinal match at the KSU Convocation Center.

Nevertheless, the Hatters completed an outstanding turnaround season with a record of 16-13 and a fifth place finish in the league standings.  It was just the Hatters' third 16-win season in the past 27 years.

Thursday, Eva Deisa led the offense with nine kills and Emily DeStaffino collected 22 assists.  Chelcie Spence picked up 12 digs, giving her a season total of 492.  That mark ranks as the second-highest single-season total in school history.

Hao Jin had two blocks in her final match as a Hatter, giving her a two-year career total of 216.  Her 1.07 blocks-per-set average ranked second-highest in the rally-scoring era and seventh-highest all-time.

Also completing their Stetson careers were Anna Bezhan (78 matches), Charlotte Earnhart (69 matches) and Julie Varga (67 matches).

No. 4 seed Liberty (15-16) advances to face No. 1 seed FGCU (24-6) on Friday.
