Volleyball Inks Madison Baynard and Elena-Marta Djokovic

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University indoor volleyball head coach Yang Deng has announced the signing of Madison Baynard (Chiefland, Fla.) and Elena-Marta Djokovic (Belgrade, Serbia) to National Letters of Intent for 2019.

A 6-foot-3 middle blocker and pin hitter, Baynard earned Gainesville Sun first-team big school all-area honors as a junior after collecting 112 blocks and posting a .449 attack percentage.  As a senior she hit .387 with 92 blocks and helped lead Newberry High School to a second straight district championship.

"Madison is another good sized young player who has tons of potential at all hitting positions," Deng said. "She is hard working kid and a very good student. I'm excited to see her development over the next few years."

Djokovic, a 6-1 outside hitter, has played for several teams in her home country of Serbia, including VBC Red Star, VBC Vizura, and VBC Partizan.  She helped lead her team to first place finishes at the Championship in Zagreb in 2016 and 2017, as well as a first place finish at the International Easter Volley Championship in 2016.  She also attended Gateway Christian Legacy Academy outside St. Louis in 2017-18.

"Elena will add some size and power to our outside position," Deng said. "I think having played high school ball in both the U.S. and Serbia will help her adjust quicker to college ball."

Baynard and Djokovic join 6-5 middle Kaylee Oscarson as Stetson's three signees for 2019.
