Offense Shines as Hatters Earn First Win

Addi Walters Leads Four Players in Double Figures With 21

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson scored a season-high 80 points and tied a school-record with 14 made 3-pointers in a 80-52 win over Webber International Friday afternoon at the Edmunds Center.

Addi Walters led four players in double figures with a season-high 21 points as the Hatters (1-6) notched their first victory of the season.

"Our energy wasn't very good in the first half, but I thought our second half was much better," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "They went on a little run, and I thought we responded really well."

Stetson led 38-29 at the half, but Webber International (3-3) opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to one.  The Hatters answered with an 8-0 run of their own and outscored the Warriors 25-5 throughout the rest of the quarter.

"I think we stepped up in the second half, especially in third quarter," Walters said.  "We just need to put four quarters together."

Stetson went 14-for-35 (.400) from behind the arc as six different players hit 3s.  Walters drained five long range shots, while Sarah Sagerer and Bianca Fizouaty hit three apiece.

"We finally started hitting some shots, and when those 3s go in I think we are hard to guard," Bria said.  "It pulls people out of that zone.  When they get out of that zone, I think our man offense is pretty good."

Sagerer finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five blocks.  She buried a buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter that turned into a four-point play.

Also for Stetson, Fizouaty had season-highs of 15 points and three steals, McKenna Beach scored 10 points with six assists and six steals, and Megan Vincent netted nine points and 12 rebounds.

"I thought Bianca had an incredible night on both ends; she just keeps getting better and better," Bria said.  "I thought McKenna Beach really stepped up and I thought Sarah hit some big shots that we really needed.  Overall, I am very pleased, but we have to come out defensively and be better for 40 minutes."

Stetson shot 41 percent from the floor and held a 40-34 advantage on the glass.

The Hatters will visit 11th-ranked Tennessee at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
