Softball Announces 2019 Schedule

Hatters To Play 32 Home Games

DeLand, Fla. – A full slate of 32 home games plus road contests at Disney and Legend's Way in Clermont highlight the 2019 Stetson University softball schedule, which was released on Friday.
 
Stetson will open the season with a three-game series against Indiana State on Feb. 9-10 at Patricia Wilson Field.  The Hatters and Sycamores will play a doubleheader on Feb. 9 and a single game on Feb. 10.

The following weekend, Stetson will travel to the Diamond 9 Citrus Blossom Classic (Feb. 15-17) at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.  The Hatters will face Troy, St. Joseph's, Providence, Villanova and LIU Brooklyn during the three-day event.

2019 Softball ScheduleOn Feb. 22, Stetson will travel to Clermont for an afternoon doubleheader against Florida Atlantic. On Feb. 23, the Hatters return home for a double dip against Louisiana.  On Feb. 24, Stetson will host an exhibition game against the Czech Republic National Team.

A busy month of March begins with the Hatter Classic (March 1-3) as North Dakota and Mount St. Mary's come to town.  The Hatters will face the Fighting Hawks three times and the Mount twice.

A second, home tournament, the Stetson Invitational, will be played March 8-10.  The Hatters will face Maryland, Fairfield, UT Martin and Bethune-Cookman once each during the event.

Next, Stetson will host doubleheaders against UMASS (March 13), UCF (March 7), and Princeton (March 19) prior to the start of conference play.

The ASUN schedule expands in 2019 with the addition of North Alabama and Liberty to the league.  The Hatters will play four series on the road – at Jacksonville, Liberty, Lipscomb and FGCU, and three series at home – vs. North Alabama, Kennesaw State, and North Florida.  

Stetson will also host a midweek doubleheader vs. Bethune-Cookman on April 2.

The ASUN Championship will be held in Fort Myers, Fla. on May 8-11. The top six teams in the regular season will qualify for the postseason tournament, with the champion receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Hatters went 26-25 in 2018, posting a winning record for the seventh year in a row. Head coach Frank Griffin returns for his 23rd season with 950 career victories.

NCAA Opponents
The Hatters will play nine games against 2018 NCAA Tournament opponents - three games each against Kennesaw State (ASUN Champions), Liberty (Big South Champions), and Bethune-Cookman (MEAC Champions).

Top 100 RPI teams
The Hatters will face nine opponents that finished in the RPI Top 100 in 2018 - Liberty (29), FGCU (39), Kennesaw (43), Lipscomb (54), UMASS (59), UCF (64), Florida Atlantic (81), Louisiana Tech (96) and Troy (98).

Welcome to DeLand
Indiana State, North Dakota, UMASS and North Alabama will be making their first-ever appearances at Patricia Wilson Field in 2019.  

Home Cooking
The Hatters are 416-192 (.684) all-time in 16 seasons at Patricia Wilson Field.

ESPN+
Stetson is scheduled to appear seven times at home on ESPN+.  The remainder of the home games will be streamed live on GoHatters.com.
