When Stetson faced Texas early last season, Kendall Lentz and Megan Vincent were a mere two games into their collegiate careers.

Now with over a year of experience under their belt, the two Texas natives are looking forward to a return to their home state and a rematch with the Longhorns.  Stetson and No. 12 Texas will square off at 2 p.m. ET Sunday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.

Texas won last year's meeting 95-59.

"It's exciting because this year everything is different," Vincent said.  "We are not freshmen anymore.  I think the game is going to better."

Lentz and Vincent have come a long ways since last season.  In fact, head coach Lynn Bria said it is probably a tie between the two on who is the most improved player on the team.

"They are both vastly improved, but I am not surprised," Bria said.  "That's just a product of where they come from and what they do.  Their work ethic is tremendous.  They just get better and better in everything.  They are great to coach, they are great teammates, and they want to win.  I love having them here."

The two sophomores have been working hard to better themselves on the court and in the weight room.  The extra year of experience has had significant benefits as well.

"I think the biggest thing for me is confidence," Lentz said.  "Freshman year was hard, as it is for any freshman coming in, and I just didn't have any confidence.  Once you get comfortable at school, and with the girls, and with coach Bria and the offense, everything naturally flows from there."

"I think I have gotten a lot stronger, and I am a better rebounder," Vincent said.  "Even though I am a tall post, I am definitely undersized in the strength category.  I have had to overcome that and do better at boxing out and defending the post."

Both players have been solid for the Hatters throughout the first month of the season.  They have each played in all eight games, and ironically each has played the exact same number of minutes (205).  Vincent, a 6-4 forward, is averaging 4.3 points-per-game and ranks among the ASUN leaders in blocks (16) and rebounds (51).

"Megs has gotten stronger in the weight room, stronger in the paint, and she's rebounding more," Bria said.  "We want her to look to score more, but we are working on that."

Lentz, a 5-11 forward, is averaging 2.8 points and 2.6 rebounds-per-game, but her biggest impact comes in areas that don't necessarily show up in a box score.

"Kendall does all the stuff that nobody notices, but it is so important," Bria said.  "She is always contributing.  Even when she is on the bench, she is still talking and in the game.  There is never a time where she is not contributing."

Lentz, a native of Garland, and Vincent, who hails from Keller, will get another opportunity to play in front of friends and family Sunday afternoon.

"It's great when family shows up," Lentz said. "It re-energizes you to continue to play, and you just want to show out when they come."

Preview

The Hatters (1-7) will be facing their second consecutive Top-12 opponent when they meet the Longhorns (7-2) Sunday.  On Dec. 5, Stetson led No. 9 Tennessee by 16 at the half and by 20 in the third quarter before falling 65-55 in Knoxville.

Tennessee went on to defeat Texas 88-82 this past Sunday in Austin.  For the season, the Longhorns are averaging 73.8 points and 44.4 rebounds per game.

"They are a very good team; they are a well-coached team," Bria said.  "Their defense is good. They are going to pressure us and get out and deny.  I think their transition is very good. We have to limit their transition baskets, and we have to rebound.  It's going to come down to rebounding and us really taking care of the ball and executing on offense and just not giving them easy baskets."

The Hatters rank third in the ASUN in defense and have held five of their eight opponents to below 60 points.  Sarah Sagerer leads the offense with a 13.7 scoring average.  ASUN Newcomer of the week Addi Walters is averaging 16.7 ppg over her last three outings.

The Hatters will be playing their seventh road game of the season.  After Sunday's contest, Stetson will play the next six in a row at home.

Sunday's match-up will be broadcast live on the Longhorn Network.  Live stats, @StetsonWBB twitter, and the HatCheck text messaging system will provide live updates as well.
