Hatters Win Second Straight, 69-44 Over Florida A&M

Addi Walters hits four 3s and scores 16 points

DeLand, Fla. -- Addi Walters hit four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 16 points as Stetson cruised to a 69-44 victory over Florida A&M Thursday afternoon at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters (3-8) shot 50 percent from behind the arc (10-20) and held the Rattlers to 19 second-half points to improve to 2-0 at the Hatter Classic.

"I thought we played well, and I thought overall our defense was very, very good," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I am happy with our effort, and I got to play everybody, so it was a really good game for us."

Stetson led wire-to-wire, building a 23-14 lead after 1.  Florida A&M (2-7) closed the gap to three midway through the second quarter, but the Hatters answered with an 11-0 run and were not threatened the rest of the way.

Walters was 5-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-7 from the arc, adding three assists in 29 minutes of action.

Sarah Sagerer (12 points) and McKenna Beach (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Hatters.  Bianca Fizouaty added eight points.

Sagerer had nine rebounds and a pair of blocks, bringing her career blocks total to 198.  Day'Neshia Banks pulled down eight boards.

Mya Moye scored 18 points to lead Florida A&M.

In the second game of the day, North Dakota defeated Western Michigan 62-50.

The Hatters will go for their third win a row at 11 a.m. Friday vs. North Dakota State.

  • Head Coach Lynn Bria won her 350th career game and her 197th game at Stetson
  • McKenna Beach had six assists without a turnover
  • Stetson recorded 18 assists as a team
  • Jon'Nita Henry collected three steals
