Hatters Earn Solid Road Win, 68-51 at UNF

Michelle Pruitt Records Second Double-Double

Jacksonville, Fla. -- Brittney Chambers led all players with 19 points while Michelle Pruitt added 17 points and 12 rebounds as Stetson cruised to a 68-51 road victory over North Florida Saturday afternoon at UNF Arena.

The Hatters (14-10, 5-3 ASUN) jumped out to a 29-11 lead and never looked back.  Stetson outrebounded UNF 53-28 and scored 30 points on second chance opportunities.

"I thought we really executed on both ends of the floor," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "We saw a lot of different defenses and that typically has given us trouble in the past, but I thought we did a really good job of executing our offense."

The Ospreys (10-13, 3-5 ASUN) were coming off a dramatic 75-73 victory over first-place FGCU on Thursday, but the Hatters' defense led the charge early on Saturday.  Stetson held UNF scoreless over a six minute stretch in the first half as the Hatters built a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and 36-19 lead at the half.

"North Florida is a good team and they are coming off a great win, but I thought for us to come in here and play like we did was a good win for us," Bria said.

Pruitt was a force on the glass, pulling down six offensive and six defensive rebounds.  She was also 7-for-9 from the floor to earn her second double-double of the season.

Chambers just missed a double-double, finishing with 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Hatters got contributions from everyone, as McKenna Beach scored 10 points, Shania Meertens scored nine, Kendall Lentz scored six and Sydney Wagner scored five.  Megan Vincent grabbed eight rebounds, Jordan Tully collected four rebounds and Re'Nique Francis had two rebounds and a block.

"We rebounded well and we played defense, and we adjusted to their defense really well," Lentz said.  "Everybody contributed and everyone scored.  It was just a really good game for us."

Stetson shot just under 40 percent from the floor while UNF shot 34 percent.  The Hatters held a 44-16 advantage in points in the paint.

"I have always said this team can get better and better, they are getting better," Bria said.  "I am encouraged by what we are doing."

Keonna Farmer had 14 points to lead the Ospreys.

The Hatters will return home to host Jacksonville at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
