Hatters Ease Past Spartans

Stetson men's tennis picked up its first ASUN Conference win of the season on Thursday with a 5-2 victory over USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Hatters (13-3 overall, 1-1 ASUN) won the doubles point and took four of six singles matches to secure the win against the Spartans (3-14, 0-2).

Stetson grabbed the early lead by winning two of three doubles matches. The No. 3 duo of Loic Blanco & Antoine Sanchez picked up a 6-3 win, and Malik Bhatnagar & Angus Bradshaw clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 2.

The Hatters led 2-0 after Blanco secured a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, but the Spartans cut the Stetson lead in half with a win on Court 1.

Bradshaw made it 3-1 with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 3, and Coilin MacNamara clinched the match for the Hatters with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 5. Linus Bergevi finished off the day with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win on Court 6.

The Hatters continue their ASUN road trip Saturday at NJIT.
