Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Athletic Communications

Hatters Edge Highlanders

Stetson men's tennis earned a key ASUN Conference victory on Saturday as the Hatters edged NJIT, 4-3, in Newark, N.J.

Saturday's win gave the Hatters (14-3 overall, 2-1 ASUN) a weekend road sweep after Thursday's 5-2 victory at USC Upstate.

"This was a good road win for us," head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Going from windy conditions on Thursday to indoor tennis in less than 48 hours is not easy to adapt to. I am proud of the guys for making the necessary adjustments, and getting those two matches. Antoine in particular did a great job bouncing back from Thursday, and play his brand of tennis today. There is still some areas we can improve on, and we will get right on it on Monday, as we prepare for next weekend."

The Hatters started the match off on the right foot by winning the doubles point. Linus Bergevi & Colter DeCoste secured a 6-4 victory at No. 1, and Malik Bhatnagar & Angus Bradshaw followed with a 6-3 win at No. 2 as Stetson grabbed an early 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Bhatnagar got back on track with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1, and Loic Blanco added a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2.

Antoine Sanchez capped the winning for Stetson with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 win at No. 4.

The Hatters return to action when they host Kennesaw State, 5 p.m., Thursday, April 5 at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
