Hatters Down Lipscomb for Fourth Straight Win

Stetson men's tennis won its fourth straight match and moved one step closer to a first-round bye in the ASUN Conference Tournament with a 5-2 win over conference foe Lipscomb, Sunday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (16-3 overall, 4-1 ASUN) are now a game ahead of FGCU for the No. 2 seed in the ASUN Tournament, which begins in two weeks. The Hatters and Eagles meet next week in Fort Myers.
 
Sunday's victory actually began a day earlier but match play was postponed after severe weather swept through DeLand on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Hatters won the doubles point as Malik Bhatnagar & Angus Bradshaw pulled off a 6-2 win at No. 2, and Loic Blanco & Antoine Sanchez won, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 3.
 
Bhatnagar gave Stetson a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and Linus Bergevi made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5.
 
Bradshaw clinched the match for the Hatters with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 4. Blanco, Stetson's lone senior, added the Hatters' final victory of the day with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at No. 2 in his final home match.
 
Stetson closes out the regular season on Saturday at FGCU.
