Six Hatters Earn ASUN Postseason Honors

ASUN Release | ASUN All-Conference Teams

DeLand, Fla. -- Six members of the Stetson University softball team earned postseason honors from the ASUN Conference, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Senior right fielder Maggie Fritts (Lexington, N.C.) and junior first baseman Ashly Smith (Port Orange, Fla.) earned second team all-conference honors, while center fielder Kasey Fava (Sanford, Fla.), catcher Devin Lewis (Raiford, Fla.), shortstop Lizzie Shubert (Waycross, Ga,), and pitcher Jaime Tino (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) were named to the ASUN all-freshman team.

Fritts is batting .273 with a team-high eight home runs and 30 RBI this season.  She earned ASUN Player of the Week honors on March 5 after driving in nine runs in a single day.  She went 6-for-12 at the plate this weekend against Jacksonville and hit her 13th career home run, moving her into a tie for 14th on Stetson's all-time home run list.  She was named to the Hatter Invitational and Hatter Classic all-tournament teams.

Smith ranks second in the ASUN with a .396 batting average, collecting 12 doubles, four triples and four home runs on the season.  She leads the team in runs (34), hits (59), RBI (33), slugging pct. (.611) and on-base pct. (.477), and she is tied for fourth in the league with 20 extra base hits.  She has 19 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games, and she was named to the Stetson Lead-Off Classic and Hatter Classic all-tournament teams.

It is the second straight all-conference honor for Smith.

The Hatters put four players on the ASUN all-freshman team for the first time in school history.

Fava is batting .292 with 42 hits, 33 runs, and a team-high 27 stolen bases this season.  She posted a 29-game reached base streak in February and March.  She has started all 49 contests and has 12 multi-hit games.

Lewis is batting .263 with seven home runs and 27 RBI.  She has played in all 49 games, making 48 starts.  She had three consecutive walk-off hits, all against Holy Cross, from March 7-9.  She ranks fourth on the team with a .438 slugging pct.

Starting all 49 games at shortstop, Shubert is batting .255 with seven home runs and 25 RBI this season.  She has also hit seven doubles and two triples and is slugging at a .476 clip.  She and Lewis are just two of four hatter freshmen all-time to hit seven home runs their rookie season.

Tino has made 22 appearances in the circle and is 9-7 with a 3.17 ERA this season.  She has nine complete games and three shutouts, and has struck out 78 batters in 101.2 innings pitched.  Her 6.2 scoreless innings of relief Saturday helped Stetson defeat Jacksonville and qualify for the ASUN Championship.

The Hatters (26-23) are the No. 6 seed for the ASUN Championship and will host No. 3 seed USC Upstate (31-17) at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Patricia Wilson Field.  For tickets, visit GoHatters.com/tix.
