Stetson senior tight end
Donald Parham tied a school record with three touchdown receptions on Saturday against Waldorf and helped the Hatters set or tie 12 other program records in a 63-34 victory.
Â
For his efforts, Parham was named the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
Parham is the first FCS tight end to score three touchdowns in a game this year. The three scores were part of the school record nine touchdowns for the Hatters, leading to a school record 63 points.
Â
The senior is the first Hatter to earn PFL Offensive POW since October 2, 2016, when receiver
Kegan Moore earned the honor for his performance against Davidson. It is just the third time in the five-plus seasons for Stetson to have captured the offensive award.
Cole Mazza was named co-Offensive POW on October 26, 2014.
Â
Parham tied his career-high with 165 receiving yards in the game, on just five receptions. The 165 yards is the second most by a Stetson player in a single game. He also moved to within 120 yards of breaking Moore's Stetson career record for receiving yards (1,630). Parham will go into the game this weekend at Presbyterian with 1,511 career receiving yards on a school record 105 receptions.
Â
With 10 career touchdown receptions, Parham is just one behind Moore's career mark of 11.
Â
Each week during the 2018 season, the Stetson football coaches will also select team players of the week. Those players will be chosen for their performance in the game the previous week. The staff will also choose offensive and defensive scout team players of the week, honored for their work in preparing the team for the game.
Â
The winner of the Special Teams player of the week will have the honor of wearing jersey number 37 at the next week's game in honor of
Nick Blakely.
Â
In addition to Parham for the Waldorf game, the coaching staff selected junior corner back
Jalon Scott as defensive player of the week and freshman DB
Dwight Lawrence as special teams player of the week. For a second straight week, redshirt freshman
Bryson Richards was named "most physical" from the Waldorf game. Richards wore No. 37 against Waldorf after sharing special teams honors with kicker
Jonny Messina last week.
Â
Scout team recognition this week went to senior running back
Arkee Brown and sophomore defensive end
Chris Hawkins.
Â
Scott had two tackles and two pass breakups in the win on Saturday to go with a first quarter interception, the first of the year for Stetson, and 20-yard return to set up a touchdown.
Â
Lawrence, who made his first start in the secondary, finished the game with five tackles and one pass breakup as well as an interception near the goal line to prevent a Waldorf scoring opportunity.
Â
Richards continues to be a force on all the special teams, playing with reckless abandon every time he gets on the field.
Â
Brown did not get into the game for any snaps on offense, but played on special teams, while Hawkins got into the game in the second half and recorded his first sack.
Â
The Hatters will be on the road this weekend in Clinton, SC, to face off against future PFL foe Presbyterian (0-1). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
