Hatters Host Upstate on Saturday

Stetson men's soccer hosts an old friend this weekend when the Hatters welcome USC Upstate to the Athletic Training Center, 2 p.m., Saturday.

The Spartans (1-4) were members of the ASUN Conference from 2007 to 2018. Upstate left the ASUN at the end of the last academic year and the Spartans are now members of the Big South Conference.

Through five games this season, the Spartans have struggled on both sides of the field, with just five goals scored and 17 goals allowed. Five different players have scored one goal apiece for Upstate.

The Hatters (2-3-1) are looking to bounce back from what can only be described as a frustrating weekend. Poised to win twice, Stetson allowed late goals in both a tie with Liberty (3-3) and a loss to UCF (4-2).

Offense hasn't been of a problem lately for Stetson, with nine goals in the last four games. Nathan Monsanto, Erwan Colas and William Suaut (twice) all scored last weekend.

Saturday's game can be seen live on HatterVision, Stetson's free streaming network.

News & Notes: Saturday's meeting with Upstate will be the 11^th all-time with the Spartans … the Hatters are 7-1-3 all-time against Upstate and haven't lost to the Spartans at home since 2013 … Nathan Monsanto scored his first career goal last week against Liberty, and the score earned ASUN Goal of the Week honors … Colas, Suaut and Elvis Menayese lead the Hatters with two goals each.
