Hatters Drop Road Tussle at UNA

Day'Neshia Banks leads the way with 13 points

Florence, Ala. -- Emma Wallen hit seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points to lead North Alabama past Stetson 71-55 Saturday afternoon at Flowers Hall.

The Hatters (7-11, 2-2 ASUN) trailed by eight, 45-37, after three quarters, but Wallen went 6-for-6 from behind the arc in the final period to put the game out of reach.

"Overall, we were right there, but the fourth quarter just killed us," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "We had no answer for (Emma Wallen).  She just got really hot and confident. We just have to do a better job of adjusting when someone gets hot like that."

Day'Neshia Banks led four Hatters in double figures with 13 points.  McKenna Beach scored 12, Megan Vincent netted 11, and Addi Walters registered 10 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.

Stetson shot 35 percent from the floor but just 13 percent (2-for-16) from behind the arc. The Hatters held a 35-34 advantage on the glass and converted 13-of-14 attempts from the free throw line (.929).

"I thought we rebounded the ball well," Bria said.  "Offensively, we had a little drought and that hurt us, but we also had some easy bunnies and just didn't stick them in.  You have to put those in against a good team, and we didn't do that."

The Lions (13-2, 4-1 ASUN) shot 48 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers as a team.

Stetson will begin a two-game homestand Tuesday night against NJIT.
