McKenna Beach Nets 1000th Point as Hatters Defeat Lipscomb 76-49

Hatters Go 2-0 On The Homestand

DeLand, Fla. -- McKenna Beach was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and scored her 1000th career point as Stetson rolled to a 76-49 victory over Lipscomb Saturday afternoon at the Edmunds Center.

Addi Walters led four players in double figures with 17 points as the Hatters (9-11) improved to 8-2 at home and 4-2 in conference play.

Beach became the 23rd player in school history to reach the 1000-point milestone with a 3-pointer from the left wing early in the second half.  She finished with 13 points.

"It felt great.  It was such a blessing," Beach said.  "More importantly, we got the win. We have been playing great as of late. We have a lot of momentum going into the second half of conference. That makes it so much better."

Stetson led wire-to-wire, jumping out to a 17-5 advantage after 1 and a 38-22 lead at the break.  The Hatters scored 24 points in the paint in the first half as Day'Neshia Banks and Megan Vincent went to work down low.  Banks finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double, adding a career-high eight assists as well.  Vincent netted 15 points (7-11 FG), six rebounds and three blocks.

"Day Day Banks just played a phenomenal game, probably the best game she played all year," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "She is much healthier than she was, even a week ago, so that really helps us.  She and Megan really carried us in the first half.  I thought Megan had a great game, and then Kendall Lentz came off the bench and gave us some really great passes.  It was a really good group effort."

The Hatters were clicking on offense, collecting 27 assists on 31 made baskets.  Stetson hit 12 3-pointers, five of which came from Walters.  The Hatters also pulled down a season-high 50 rebounds and did not give up any second chance points the entire game.

The win completed a season sweep by the Hatters over the Bisons (2-17, 0-6).  Lauren Rau led Lipscomb with 14 points.

The Hatters will go for their third win in a row Tuesday night at Jacksonville.
